WHY FRECKLE?

Freckle offers a professional and down-to-earth fundraising consultancy service. We have over 20 years’ experience of working within education, public and private funding, the third sector and cultural organisations.

We pride ourselves on having a realistic and sensible approach to fundraising – relevant to the size of the organisation, team, and aspirations of key stakeholders. Our working relationship can last from one day to many months or even years – depending on the support required.

Hello, I’m Helen – founder of Freckle Fundraising and self-confessed ‘culture vulture’

After reading Psychology at University, I worked as a Chalet Host in Austria, before returning to the UK to start my professional career as an FE lecturer. The move into teaching made me quickly realise the value of having transferable skills and resilience. I have worked for a range of funding bodies, an arts charity, and several education and training establishments.

I’m often participating in fundraising events – such as running a half marathon or being drenched in pantomime ‘slosh’. Outside of work you’ll find me either on my bike, walking in the countryside, swimming, or playing badminton.

We adhere to the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Practice, and have ‘on the ground’ experience of charitable campaigns, legislation and raising up to six figure revenue, capital and community-engagement project-specific funds.

Examples of recent success with Trusts and Foundations, for theatre-related activities, include:

    • £294,000 = Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, multi-year core support for talent development
    • £149,000 = Community Foundation, one year revenue support for community engagement
    • £67,000 = Backstage Trust, 18 months core support for early-stage creatives
    • £50,000 = National Lottery, one year revenue support for older people engagement

    • £20,000 = Garfield Weston Foundation, one year revenue support for community engagement
    • £1k-£15k = range of one-off revenue grants for theatre engagement activity, from:

    • £30k-£150k = several one-off capital grants from: Foyle, Esmee Fairbairn, Garfield Weston, Wolfson, 29th May 1961, Higgs, and Rowlands

We can’t wait to work with you and so look forward to you saying hello.
